Measuring your head size for a custom made to measure or a bespoke hat:
Take a tape measure around your head circumference, placing it just above your ears, around the back of your head (at widest part) and across your forehead.
Make sure you don’t pull the tape measure too tightly. You are measuring for the fit of your hat, which needs to be comfortable.
It’s useful to place your finger underneath the tape measure to allow a little room. The hat inner head band can always be tightened. It’s easy to do yourself by holding the tape measure to the front.
You can take your measurement in cm or ins.
As a guide the average head size is 22 – 22.5 inches.
HAT SIZE GUIDE
SMALL 21 – 21.5 inches / 53 – 55 cm
MEDIUM 22 – 22.5 inches / 56 – 57 cm
LARGE 23 – 23.5 inches / 58 – 59 cm
XLARGE 24 – 24.5 inches / 60 – 61 cm
FASCINATOR Headband Size
Many of the fascinator’s will be fitted with a ‘standard’ headband which will fit most head sizes comfortably.
Standard fitting headband’s will fit the ‘average/medium’ head size and will often be classed as ‘one size’ fitting. The headband’s do open slightly wider and have a certain amount of grip so they will easily accommodate slightly smaller or larger head sizes too.
However, if you have a smaller than average/medium head size or a larger than average/medium head size you may find that these standard headband’s are not as suitable for you. You may be better to choose from an ‘elastic’ fitting or have a custom made headband that will provide you with the most comfortable and well fitting fascinator.
